This directory contains the ce executable for Windows NT (Works on
Window 9x too). This is a beta version and is provided free of
charge. The editor portion works quite will assuming you are
running the Exceed X windows server.

You can create shortcuts to the ce.exe program which will cause it
to run as a terminal emulator running either cmd.exe or bash.exe.
This version performs acceptably with the exception of ^c and ^d
which do not always work properly. The transcript pad is nice to
have. You can also make a copy of ce.exe and call it ntterm.exe.
The program start_ntterm can then be used to make sure Exceed is
running and then start ntterm.

The contents of the shortcut would be:

P:\bin\ce.exe -term "P:\bin\bash.exe -i"

P:\bin\ce.exe -term cmd.exe

The above assumes P:\bin is where the ce executable and the bash
executable (bash shell from the Cygwwin project) live.
See http://sourceware.cygnus.com/cygwin/ for information on Cygnus and bash.

The non-Exceed version is not ready. No date for this is currently available.

Also in this directory is default keydef file for a PC keyboard. Put
this file somewhere and then in the "Control Panel" -> "Environment"
tab set the environment variable CEKEYS to the path
you saved it at. For example U:\Cekeys.txt

Also:

Set the environment variable DISPLAY
to 127.0.0.1:0.0 so the window opens up on the current
workstation.

There is a bug in Exceed version 6.1 (which Hummingbird is
looking into) which causes exceed to crash if you execute the ce
"geo" command. If you use the beta copy and have trouble, let me
know.

If you use PRIMARY as the default paste buffer and tell
Exceed to map PRIMARY to the Windows clipboard, you can copy
and paste to and from Windows applications.

        Thank you for your interest.
